Dillon Francis’ “Without You (feat. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs)” just cannot be ignored. Ravers and electronic music lovers alike have become encapsulated with the chilled out single from one of the wackiest, out of this world producers we’ve seen in recent years. Dillon knows how to draw a crowd, that’s for sure. With a social media platform bred for fans from every facet of life, there’s no stopping the freight train of hype that is I.D.G.A.F.O.S.. With his wide variety of production skills and a posse of trend-setting artists by his side, DF has taken the music industry by storm. No other artist has the balls to do some of the things Dillon does on a nightly basis (cue the dancing cats and derogatory slogans). His latest project comes to us in the form of a seven song remix EP packed with a completely diverse group of producers. Each remix reassures Dillon’s ear for unique, inspiring talent across all sub-genres. As we previewed last week, Dillon also provided us with a personal rework of the original that may still stand as our favorite.

Alright, fuck it. Whatever.

In our futile efforts to stay ‘cool’ or ‘indie’ (if you will), by actively avoiding posting song previews and teasers, we have failed you, the reader. As we have previously mentioned on countless occasions, clips to songs will only hurt; they DO NOT help.

But you know what? Sometimes a short snippet of a song just burns so good that we simply love to torture ourselves when attempting to find the full-length somewhere within the bowels of internet. Call it masochism, call it what you will. A prospective listener who has heard the original mix to this preview by Dillon Francis will surely appreciate the transformative overhaul on the tune.

We HATE teasers. Almost as much as we hate Broccoli. Well, we suppose it’s tolerable when steamed and included with some sort of asian dish, but definitely not raw and by itself. But by God, Dillon Francis has done it with this one. Reassuring haters everywhere that this man can do it all, Dillon Francis brings you “The Rebirth” of “Without You” featuring Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.

Dillon Francis & TEED Release Full Version of ‘Without You’ [Sappy Funk]

Wow. Thanks for the curveball, Dillon Francis. 

Since releasing his original track ‘Messages‘ and remix to Passion Pit’s ‘Carried Away’ earlier this summer – we’ve been craving Dillon’s next drop. And nobody was happier than myself to hear how his latest masterpiece turned out. And might I repeat, masterpiece.

If you haven’t heard, Dillon Francis is one of the true revolutionaries in the art of remixing. But in a collaboration with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Dillon revealed a side of himself that we haven’t seen before. One of the most exuberant, funky, and free-living musicians in EDM proved one thing with his latest track: he’s only human.

After a failed attempt to create his own rendition of ‘Strobe’ with ‘I.D.G.A.F.O.S. 3.0’ – Dillon struck gold in an unfamiliar place. Simply put, ‘Without You’ is a song about love. The miserable, tormenting, and crazy little thing called love. 

According to Dillon’s Soundcloud, “This song is very meaningful to me because as TEED and I were working on the song I was having relationship problems of my own. He ended up writing the song about the whole situation i was going through..”

During his Lollapalooza after-party set at Aragon Ballroom on Friday night, Dillon reconfirmed the song’s backstory. As he put it to the crowd, “This song is about my ex-girlfriend. Ex-girlfriends fucking suck.” It brings raw emotion to an already-melancholy track. It redefines an artist who at times doesn’t even seem to take himself seriously.

If music gets better than this, I don’t want to hear it.
