Sick Individuals | Artist Spotlight

Since the world has had enough Miley discussion fifty times over, let’s discuss some other sick individuals. Literally.

Dutch duo Sick Individuals have been pumping out upbeat house tunes and it’s about time that their infectious sound began making waves in the EDM world. Their original productions along with their remixes of everything from Icona Pop to Savoy have gained the attention of major players such like Thomas Gold, Hardwell, and a little known trio known as Swedish House Mafia.

Their latest track, ‘I Am’, was produced in collaboration with Axwell and takes us back to the glory days of house, when dubstep and trap were just a twinkle in the god of music’s eye. The melody-driven jam is enough to make us forget our worries and just get lost in the light-as-air vocals of Taylr Renee. While we are brutally teased by the preview, the full track is forthcoming on Axtone records and it’s one we’re sure will be seeing plenty of rotation. Stay tuned.

Bass Meant To Be Felt, Not Heard: Destroid — The Invasion EP [HEAVY][Massive Collaboration]

Slowly but surely, artists in EDM have been teaming up to create super-group identities.

Steve Angello, Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso = Swedish House Mafia

Skrillex, Boys Noize = Dog Blood

ATrak, Armand Van Helden = Duck Sauce

Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillen = Knife Party

Skrillex, Diplo = Jack U (This is a new artist persona in the making. The duo is set to reveal their new identity during the Mad Decent Block Party Tour.)

Excision, Downlink, and KJ Sawka (former Pendulum drummer) = Destroid

Not many artists are known for having bass so heavy that ear cavities don’t suffice; bass so deep that it can best be described as a feeling that overtakes your entire body upon impact. After releasing their two singles ‘Raise Your Fist‘ and ‘Blast Off’ on their own independent label, the crew has released their first album titled The Invasion. The group has also picked San Francisco for their first live show at the end of the month. What will set Destroid apart from most modern day shows is their use of futuristic symbols and videos to convey underlying social media and marketing concepts. They also create online graphic novels to create a stir about future work.

Their tagline: Elevate Your Existence.

More Savant Love – Archive Mix (2009-2013) [Insert Genre Here]

1

Finally, some time to ourselves, away from responsibilities and with the people that we love. Well, we love Mr. Vinter aka Savant if you haven’t noticed. Just like we love the weekend.

Our favorite Norwegian production whiz knows how to please his fans again and again. When he’s not casually dropping new albums at an ungodly rate he’s releasing random stuff on SoundCloud…ALL THE TIME. It would seem rather easy to be a follower of Savant, he never makes you wait.

Aleks has given us all we need to kick the weekend off right. This hour long mix truly goes without genre. Savant cites that the mix is simply “unreleased dance, electro and bass music,” but it is so much more than that. Get ready to expand your musical mind with this mix because it has everything.
