Hey Loser: Pegboard Nerds Are Playing In Chicago This Friday

We’re getting real jacked up for this Friday night.maxresdefault

Why? Well first, because it’s Friday night. But this particular Friday night, Pegboard Nerds are coming to town.

Making their way into the Windy City on their Bassline Kickin‘ tour – the dubstep duo from Denmark will make a long-anticipated visit to the Chicagoland area. For us here at Rager, any up-and-comer from Monstercat is a must-see. So if you haven’t heard of the nerds yet, we’ll give you a proper introduction.

In two words, their music can be defined best as ‘crazy shit’. With the release of their new single Bassline Kickin’, and a few killer remixes (including Krewella’s Live For The Night and Adventure Clubs Wonder) – the Pegboard Nerds have been been keeping quite busy as of late.

What’s even cooler about this Friday night’s show is that they’ll be playing at Subterranean in Wicker Park...which we’ve heard is a pretty neat little venue.

Doors open at 9pm, as Dirty Noize and LVMB & TVNA will get the show started. Tickets are still available for $15, and you can get them right here.

Thanks to React Presents, this should be one wild little night. Don’t believe us? Hear for yourself.

A few of our favorites from Pegboard Nerds:

1. Razor Sharp
Obviously.

2. We Are One
The song that really set the bar for Pegboard.

3. Krewella – Live For The Night (Pegboard Nerds Remix)
Chi-city love.

No Tomorrow Volume 8 Mix | Zomboy

Remaining relatively quiet for the past couple of months in terms of releases, one of our favorite British dub-stepping acts, Zomboy, is back with a new mix brought to you by No Tomorrow Recordings.

Joshua Jenkins aka Zomboy has been reinventing the genre of bass music for the past year or so. Utilizing complex, uptempo rhythms, lyrical reggae influences, and quintessential bass modulation,  Josh’s production method remains relatively unmatched in his realm of EDM. We couldn’t be more excited to hear any forthcoming original tracks or remixes he has to give us, his biggest fans (no, really, we are).

To satiate the cravings of his rabid fan base, Zomboy has given us a 24 minute mini-mix to tide us over until he releases his new EP titled Reanimated, out September 9th of this year. Luckily, twenty odd minutes was all Mr. Jenkins needed to pick our asses up this Thursday afternoon. And be sure to check out Josh’s latest original mix, titled Raptor, which appears as the final track on this set.

Track List:

Zomboy – Vancouver Beatdown
Knife Party – Power Glove
Skrillex – Bug Hunt (Noisia Remix)
Zero Hero – Theme
Astronaut – Apollo (Electro Mix)
Knife Party – LRAD
Martin Garrix – Animals
Carnage Ft. New & Used – Signal
Zomboy – Bad Intensions
Karetus -Rave On!
Schoolboy – Aftershock
Skrillex & The Doors – Breakn’ a Sweat (Zedd Remix)
Knife Party – EDM Death Machine
Dog Blood – Middle Finger
Blake McGrath – Motion Picture (Pegboard Nerds Remix)
Zomboy – Raptor

Monstercat 014 | Discovery

The formerly underground music label known as Monstercat finally released their 14th compilation mix titled Discovery. The album contains some of the latest and greatest EDM hits gathered from just about every sub-genre imaginable. From hard dubstep to futuristic glitch hop to experimental electronica, this album has it all. While some of the songs have already been released by various artists on their SoundCloud page, listening to it from front to back forces the listener to compare and contrast similar and opposing songs based on their attributes. Some sound so similar, yet so different. The statement may sound overtly simplistic and somewhat idiotic, but give it a listen and I think you’ll know what I mean.

Which were our favorites? Here’s our Top 5:

1. PIXL – Sugar Rush (04:45)

2. Draper – Men & Machines (Radio Edit) (03:16)

3. Stereotronique – No Holding On (feat. Holly Drummond) (07:28)

4. Lets Be Friends – Manslaughter (VIP Mix) (05:21)

5. Nerve – Favright (06:01)

The album cover says it all; life is a journey full of new discoveries, so get out there and find what you are looking for.

You get one shot at this thing called life…
