Dan Absent – MASH THE F#@K UP 5.0 [Bounce Mash Up 2014] [FREE]

Sydney, Australia native Dan Absent has made a name for himself over the past few years through his cleverly edited mash-up compilations. Each year, Dan releases around a 10 minute mix featuring some of the biggest party tracks of the past year. Now I know what you’re thinking: “Great, another DJ Earworm in the making.”

Think again, fools!

Luckily, for all of us Bounce fans out there, Dan has a special place in his heart for the up-tempo, funky sub genre. Therefore, this entertaining mix contains some of the finest Bounce tracks known to man (or woman, or alien). Have a listen, and do say I warned you because I just did.

New World Sound – Genie [Free Download]

New World Sound is back and most certainly in proper fashion. Jesse Taylor and Tyrone James Taylor of NWS have been steadily riding that thin line between various sub-genres by using instruments like the banjo, flute and countless others to craft a peculiar, completely original sound. It is their ability to experiment with these new sounds and styles that leaves this production duo near the top of our list for EDM musicians to watch closely in twenty fourteen.

“Genie”, the most recent release by this tandem of brother DJs, is yet another testament to Jesse and Tyrone’s uncanny effort to expand their sound and dominate yet another style. In the case of this particular track, the boys have set their sights on (in our opinions) one of the most fun genres of electronic dance music: Melbourne Bounce. New World Sound has had some experience with these sounds in the past, however, it would seem that their skills have been sharply honed since their last attempt at Bounce.

Unfortunately, this next track appears to be somewhat of a work in progress. It’s either that, or, three minutes was all that they needed to produce this infectiously energetic and fun original jam. Regardless, this song deserves a listen from you true Ragers out there.

You know what to do.

NERVO & Ivan Gough Ft. Beverley Knight – Not Taking This No More (Spag Heddy Remix) [FREE]

1

Upon listening to this latest track by Spag Heddy, one of my fellow associates and I got into a somewhat heated argument about this next producer. Personally, I cannot help but become overly ecstatic with anticipation every time I receive an update on my cell, informing me about the most recent Spag release on SoundCloud. On the other hand, my coworker was coming from an angle that defended the fact that all of “this” (dubstep/drumstep: the music styles) had been done before.

While this may be partly true, I will staunchly adhere to and defend the counterpoint to this argument. Yes, the dubstep and drumstep scenes have basically been exhausted, however, what allows me to enjoy each and every one of Mischa productions are the feelings bestowed upon me by his music. And while I still believe his “tomato bass” to be whole-heartedly unique, to me, it’s the way he dominates his tracks. His chord progressions, synthesizer mods, and happy-go-lucky production style are what keep me coming back for a second, third and even fourth portion of his Spag Heddy and meat sauce.

Spag Heddy’s latest remix of “Not Taking This No More” by NERVO and Ivan Gough is another jam for your Rager playlist. Much like his remix to Example, Hardwell and Dannic (“Say Nothing“), Mr. Reining has proven that he can take an original jam of a polar opposite genre and completely turn it on its’ head. The epicness that is Beverley Knight’s vocal piece bellows out and resounds into Spag Heddy’s signature tomato drop sound. It all adds up to equal one hell of a new jam from MY FAVORITE DUBSTEP PRODUCER IN THE GAME CURRENTLY.

Yeah, I said it. Wanna fight about it?
