If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then one could say musicians are skilled masqueraders.

Simply stated, music is a personal, biased fabrication of a gained, ancestral knowledge through the use of an auditory medium. Our ears act as a tunnel leading toward the (metaphorical) vaults filled with useful, tuned antecedents specifically stored to further our ability to craft beauty for all those listening.
