Party Ghost – Static [Free Download]

Everybody’s favorite partying apparition is back and this time he’s kicking it electro-house style. Party Ghost aka Chris Mehrtash has been away from the scene for sometime, doing who knows what. Seriously though, we have no idea. Do you?

After falling head over heels for Chris’ remix to the absolutely huge single “Safe and Sound” by indie pop rockers Capital Cities, we were convinced of the talents possessed by this young producer. Since then, Party Ghost had released his very first single for Spinnin’ Records titled “On My Way” but then, ironically, it seemed Mr. Mehrtash had taken some time off. We are not sure of the specific reason, perhaps he was completing a tour. Either way, he’s back!

Party Ghost’s new jam is indicative of many electro songs we have heard before with one glaring exception. We have pointed this fact out before when reviewing Chris’ music but we might as well shed some more light on the peculiar arrangement that accompanies his songs. Instead of adhering to a typical compositional technique, Party Ghost has once again gone against the grain. Like your average EDM track, “Static” includes both an intro, outro and a break. But, this latest release features three disctinct sections: intro, build, drop | bridge, build, drop | bridge, build, drop, outro.

Needless to say, there is A LOT going on here and it ALL sounds great to us.

Sydney Blu – Nightlight (Party Ghost Remix) [Ghost House] [FREE]

Chris Mehrtash aka the Party Ghost has continually impressed the Rager Onions crew with his high quality productions, originality, and inventiveness. He also possesses a certain quality that only the great artists have. That is, the ability to make whatever style your producing sound authentic. And by ‘authentic’, we mean just plain good.

His latest remix of Sydney Blu’s ‘Nightlight’ is a true testament to what we have stated above. Instead of following in the footsteps of a typical and sometimes repetitive EDM song progression, Chris has developed a song where no two parts sound the same. Each chorus bears a unique build and each drop delivers something fresh to the mix. It’s almost like you could slap a different genre label on each section.

Call it what you want.

We’ll call it ‘Ghost House’.

(Also check out his other remix of the smash hit from Capital Cities, ‘Safe and Sound’. But only if you have enough time. We know how you Americans like your time. Typical.)

Aaaaaaand while your at it. Just listen to this dammit. “Cause if the party is dead, we can bring it back to life!”

Ghosts Party, Too: Capital Cities – Safe and Sound (Party Ghost) [HAPPY] [HEAVY]

We wish we could see ghosts. That would be sweet.

Well, if these transient beings don’t pass before your eyes, at least they’ll catch your ear. Party Ghost, aka Chris Mehrtash, isn’t like your average ghost. Producing EDM for about a year now, this L.A. based producer is certainly off to a good start – being a ghost. He has received praise not only for his originality but also for the quality of his recordings – being a musician.

Sidenote, how we rank creatures at Rager Onions:

1. bunnies
2. party ghosts
3. turtles
4. other ghosts

In a recent interview with WompWorthy, Chris refers to a new wave EDM as “a revolution in music and we are just at the forefront.” We at Rager (Onions) couldn’t agree more. With loads of talented producers uploading their songs to SoundCloud, it may seem difficult to weed out the true talent. But don’t worry, Party Ghost makes it easy on you.

With his most recent remix of the indie-pop anthem ‘Safe and Sound’ by Capital Cities, Chris has added a touch of beautiful electronic intricacy. While bolstering the already epic vocals, Party Ghost throws in slews of melodic electronic non-sense. The result is pure audio bliss. Try not to smile as this one drops. We know we did.

Just in case your not convinced…a mashup for the ages.
