Going All In With Cash Cash [Artist Spotlight]

I play favorites. When asked my favorite producers and DJs, I can immediately rattle off a dozen names. When asked who I see dominating the scene in the future, well, that’s where it starts to get a little tricky. Predicting someone’s popularity trajectory, particularly in the oftentimes fickle EDM world, is a difficult call. So let me now just go ahead and throw the hat in the ring for electro-pop group Cash Cash. If you haven’t heard of this group yet, run, don’t walk, over to SoundCloud, Beatport, my speaker system, or the end of this post for a taste of something special.

In reality, the group, hailing from New Jersey, has been involved in the music realm for quite some time. Echoing the likes of Skrillex’s punk rock alter ego and Bassnectar’s death metal roots, Cash Cash members Jean Paul Makhlouf and Sam Frisch began their musical career in the alternative world with their band The Consequence formed in 2002. In 2008, the duo added Makhlouf’s brother Alexander Makhlouf to the mix and began exploring the growing genre of electronica, officially forming Cash Cash.

Cash Cash has been slowly gaining steam since the end of 2012 with their original productions ‘Michael Jackson’ and ‘I Like It Loud’, but it was not until their recent June 15th release of ‘Take Me Home’, featuring the powerhouse vocals of Bebe Rexha, that the group has really found their individual sound. With their continued remixes of EDM favorites such as NERVO and Nicky Romero, the group has garnered the attention of Tiesto and Hardwell, among many others. Additionally, their recent foray into the regular monthly mix with their Royalty Radio has allowed a glimpse into their musical stylings and influencers outside of their own productions. In an EDM world consistently pushing the boundaries with ‘bass in yo face’ and ‘deep hau5’, Cash Cash is a breath of fresh air. They’re pure party, pure fun, and music that makes you want to throw your hands up in the air and wave them like you just D.G.A.F.O.S.
