The wait is finally over!
Derek Vincent Smith aka Pretty Lights has been hinting at the idea of a new, full-length studio album since early last September. After a much anticipated wait, the Colorado-based production icon has shed some light onto the uncertainty surrounding a forthcoming LP. Officially, the new 2-disc full-length titled A Color Map of the Sun is set to drop on July 2nd.
For those unfamiliar with Derek, he’s a people person, a crowd pleaser. Therefore, the new EP will be available for FREE download via Pretty Light’s website. The link of which can be found here. Vinyl copies will be available for purchase paired with a 28-page photo booklet that documents the album’s creation.
After reading the blurb that Pretty Lights included with the announcement of the new LP, we could’t help but share a little bit.
“This isn’t just an album; it is a massive collection of music beyond what is on the CDs that I will continue to put out after the album release. There is an insightful documentary film on the making of this project to be released alongside the launch of the album, as well as a music video for every song. They are all beautiful and uniquely unusual pieces of art.”
Pretty Lights offers us a final gift in the form of an early release titled ‘Around The Block’ featuring Talib Kweli.
It’s jazzy, it’s funky, it’s fresh.
It’s our dear old friend, Pretty Lights.
